Sunday 26th April at Cookson Park, Sheffield

Northumbria Vikings finished an excellent 3rd in a tough semi final at Sheffields Cookson Park on Sunday.

Missing Michael Parr from the line up the Vikings had Gavin and Jason backed up by Dan Wharrier and Dan Redshaw. Wharrier was never far away from the thick of the action and a great pass on Sheffields Nial Morton was the highlight of a excellent days racing for him.

Redshaw was a little dissapointed with his own performance but a mystery virus may have been the cause for some of his performance.

The two senior Vikings both had good meetings with Jason taking some great scalps along the way to a couple of fine heat wins. Certainly the early morning gym sessions didn't go unnoticed among the other riders with compliments galore heading his way.

The skipper Gavin had a disappointing first ride before coming out in his second and breaking the Cookson Park track record. This for a 43 year old was a pretty special moment although the record was broken later on in the day by Mikey Hewitson and Damien Zareba.

gavleadsAll in all the Vikings put up a great show and with a little bit more luck could even have sneaked through the back door into the final.
